Terms of service
These are the terms a job runs under. They are the same terms we say out loud on the phone, written down so nobody has to remember them.
How a visit runs, what each side is responsible for, and what happens if a fault comes back. The same terms said on the phone.
Between you and this shop
1. Who you are contracting with
Ironside Appliance Repair, an independent appliance repair company working in St. Johns County and the surrounding metro. Booking a visit, in person or on +1 (904) 659-6634, accepts these terms.
2. Trademarks and manufacturer warranties
Brand names appear on this site and on our paperwork only to identify the appliances we service. Nothing we say creates a manufacturer obligation, and no manufacturer warranty is extended, honoured or administered by us. The affiliation notice at the foot of this page forms part of these terms.
3. The diagnostic
$80 flat diagnostic, credited toward the repair. It is a flat fee for any appliance anywhere inside 40 miles by road of Fruit Cove, St. Johns County. It buys a technician on site, the fault identified, and a written estimate. It is payable whether or not you go ahead with the repair. If you go ahead, it comes off the repair bill.
4. Estimates and approval
Written estimate before any work starts. No work beyond diagnosis begins until you approve that estimate. If we open an assembly and find a second fault that changes the number, we stop and re-quote rather than continue and invoice you for it.
Where a repair is not economic against a realistic replacement cost, we say so in writing. You are free to decline.
5. Access and site conditions
You agree to give us:
- An adult over 18 present at the property for the visit.
- Safe access to the appliance, its shut-off and its circuit.
- Gas and electrical supplies that are live unless the fault requires otherwise.
Built-in equipment sometimes has to be drawn out of cabinetry. Older kitchens in particular were built around the appliance, and cabinet openings, flooring added later, and stone tops can make removal awkward. We will tell you before we pull anything, and we are not responsible for pre-existing damage to cabinetry, flooring or countertops that removal exposes.
If nobody is at the property, the appliance is inaccessible, or the site is unsafe, the diagnostic fee still applies.
6. Appointments and cancellation
We book windows, not exact times. Mon-Fri 8am-6pm. Sat 9am-4pm. Closed Sunday. Cancel or move a visit by phone with reasonable notice and there is no charge. A cancelled visit we are already outside for is charged at the diagnostic fee.
7. Parts
Genuine OEM parts. Where a genuine part is discontinued we will tell you, in writing, which alternative we propose and that it is not an OEM part, before you approve it.
We will fit a part you supplied yourself, but the labor is chargeable and no parts warranty applies to it. Removed parts are disposed of unless you ask for them back at the time of the repair.
Parts availability on older equipment is outside our control. Where a part cannot be sourced we say so and charge only the diagnostic.
8. Payment
Cash, credit or debit, due on completion of the repair rather than in advance. Title in any part we fit stays with us until the invoice is paid.
9. Warranty
90 days on labor. 365 days on parts. Genuine OEM parts. Full detail, including what is excluded, is on the warranty page and forms part of these terms.
10. Limits
Our liability for a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. We are not liable for spoiled food, lost trade, or consequential loss arising from an appliance failure or from the time a part takes to arrive. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We do not advertise emergency or 24 hour cover, and no term here should be read as a promise of same-day attendance.
11. Sealed refrigeration systems
Opening a sealed system and handling refrigerant requires EPA Section 608 certification under federal law. Our refrigeration technicians hold it. That is a federal credential, not a manufacturer program. Sealed-system work is normally two visits and is quoted as such.
12. Information on this website
Drive distances are road distances from our dispatch point and are approximate. Symptom descriptions on this site are general guidance written from the owner's side of the appliance, not a diagnosis of yours. Part availability, lead times and the age at which a given assembly stops being supplied all change without notice, so nothing here is a promise that a specific part can be obtained on the day you read it.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Florida, and the courts of St. Johns County have jurisdiction.
